Guidance and Counselling Services

At Iqra Academy, we understand that everyone faces challenges at different stages of life. Our Advice and Counselling service has been developed to support the emotional, mental, and spiritual wellbeing of individuals and families within our community in a safe, welcoming, and compassionate environment.

We cater for men and women, young people, adults, couples, and families, recognising that each person’s circumstances and experiences are unique. Our service is open to anyone seeking guidance, emotional support, or simply a space to talk during times of difficulty, transition, or distress.

We provide support for a wide range of concerns, including but not limited to:

  • Mental health and emotional wellbeing
  • Stress, anxiety, low mood, and depression
  • Trauma and the impact of past experiences
  • Grief, loss, and bereavement
  • Family and relationship difficulties
  • Marriage, separation, and interpersonal challenges
  • Identity, self-esteem, and personal growth
  • Faith-related concerns and spiritual wellbeing
  • Life pressures, including work, education, or financial stress

Our approach is community-centred, faith-sensitive, and non-judgemental, rooted in Islamic values of compassion, mercy, and care for one another. We aim to listen with understanding and respect, supporting individuals to find clarity, resilience, and positive ways forward, while remaining mindful of cultural, personal, and spiritual contexts.

Whether you are facing ongoing difficulties or simply need someone to talk things through with, our Advice and Counselling service is here to support you with care, dignity, and understanding. Seeking support is a positive step, and no concern is too small to discuss.

How We Can Help

At Iqra Academy, confidentiality is taken very seriously. Our Advice and Counselling service is built on trust, respect, and discretion, and we are committed to providing a safe space where individuals feel comfortable speaking openly.

All discussions shared within advice or counselling sessions are treated as strictly confidential. Information disclosed will not be shared with family members, community members, mosque staff, or any external organisations without your explicit consent.

Confidentiality may only be broken in exceptional circumstances, where there is a serious concern regarding:

  • Immediate risk of harm to yourself or to others
  • Safeguarding concerns, particularly involving children or vulnerable adults
  • Situations where there is a legal or professional duty to share information

In such circumstances, we aim to act with care, transparency, and respect, and wherever possible, concerns will be discussed with you before any action is taken.

All records, where kept, are handled securely and responsibly. Accessing this service will never affect your standing within the community, and your privacy and dignity are always respected. We remain mindful of cultural sensitivities and strive to ensure that everyone feels safe, supported, and heard.

Your privacy matters to us, and we are committed to maintaining a safe and trusted environment for all.

If you have any questions or concerns about confidentiality, you are welcome to raise them at any time.
